In 1880s China, her destitute father sells her into marriage. Rather than becoming a wife, Lalu finds herself in an Idaho gold-mining town, the property of a bar owner who renames her China Polly and intends to sell her as entertainment for the town's residents. Lalu eventually finds her own way in this weird land filled with white monsters after refusing to become a whore.
