Freddie Jackson is released from prison in 1984 with functioned a four-year sentence for armed robbery. His wife Jackie, who has been looking forward to him externally in the mistaken belief he wishes to go direct, soon finds herself frustrated: Freddie is actually in reality raring to get back into the game, and it has set his sights on becoming top dog at the East End underworld.
