Overview:
Texhnolyze is a Japanese anime television series directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki, produced by Yasuyuki Ueda, and featuring original character design by Yoshitoshi ABe. The events take place in Lux, a bustling but decaying underground metropolis. Lux's inhabitants have come to refer to it as "The City," and they regard it as a living force. The Organo, a strictly professional corporation with ties to the criminal underworld in the prosthetics sector; the Union, a zealous populist group interfering with Organo's operations; and Racan, a marauding group of Texhnolyzed youngsters compete for control of the city. The anime features an ensemble cast, although events center on Ichise, a stoic prize fighter who loses a leg and an arm to appease an irate promoter; Onishi, a young but level-headed Organo executive with many enemies; and Ran, a little girl with a very crucial ability that impacts the entire city. As they try to embrace the hardships that life throws at them, the characters witness crucial events that determine whether the city will survive. Texhnolyze aired on Fuji Television for twenty episodes from April16, 2003 to September24, 2003. The DVD release contained two "hidden" episodes.
