Overview:
The first episode of the American children's television program Ni Hao, Kai-Lan aired on Nickelodeon on November 5, 2007, and on Noggin on December 15, 2008; the show is produced in the United States. Additionally, it was the first time it was broadcast on the Canadian television channel Treehouse TV. Additionally, beginning in March of2009, the show has been broadcast on Nickelodeon in Israel. The sitcom Ni Hao, Kai-lan is based on the creator Karen Chau's childhood memories of growing up in a bicultural household. The Chinese phrase "Ni hao" translates to "Hello," while Karen is an anglicization of the Chinese name Kai-Lan, which Chau was given at birth but later changed to Karen.
