Family life is picture-perfect for Becca, Adam, and 5-year-old Acie until a devastating accident takes the father's life during a Fourth of July party. Becky, who is dealing with a lot of sadness, makes the difficult decision to leave the farm she grew up on. she goes to June's house after leaving Acie with his grandfather Ben. June is doing her best to keep Becky distracted from her responsibilities as a mother. Inflamed by her rage against God and her subsequent loss of faith, Becky turns to alcohol and other self-destructive behavior. Ben then threatens to detain Acie until Becky gets her act together after she is arrested. Becky's faith is restored and she is reunited with her family after a fortuitous encounter in a bus stop with another tourist.
