In this modern-day version of the Rasputin tale, David Hemmings plays an up-and-coming legislator, Nick Rast, whose young boy is terminally ill with leukaemia. A mysterious faith healer, Gregory Wolfe, shows up as well as appears to treat the young boy. Rast's partner Sandy loves Wolfe, but the powerful rate of interests behind Rast's job, stood for by geriatric monster Doc Wheelan are less happy with occasions.
